The Osprey is an original Mars Fire design, first created for a close friend preparing to enter the Army Rangers. Five years later - after relentless field use - he's still carrying the same knife. Here's an excerpt from an email he sent me:
"It was attached to my kit 24/7 on a deployment to the Middle East where it saw hard use in the desert. It has been an essential part of my gear through a number of demanding military courses, including Ranger School, Sniper School, the Reconnaissance and Surveillance Course, Jungle Operations Training Course, and the Army's Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) School. On top of that, it's part of my everyday kit. It has been one of my favorite pieces of gear through my career. For context, it's been in regular use in a military environment for five years now."
It's no surprise this knife has earned its place in military service. The Osprey was intentionally designed to include everything necessary and nothing superfluous. The 4" wide blade features a proper taper to the tip, a strong spine, a precision convex grind, and a meticulous heat treatment and tempering process - balancing edge retention with easy maintenance.
The 4" handle is distal tapered and angled for natural point control and enhanced ergonomics. It provides both comfort and mechanical advantage for extended use, whether in carving or hard cutting tasks. The themb ramp offers excellent traction in combative scenarios and provides a secure surface for thumb pressure when precision cutting is required.
Available with your choice of textured Micarta or hand-selected hardwood handles, the Osprey is versatile enough to follow you into battle, into the backwoods, or into the kitchen.
This model comes in both the Original extended drop point profile and a Bowie variation.
